Humro Home Lamagaon Homestay is a beautiful tiny house with 2rooms (1 double bedded and the other a 3 bedded). The rooms are well furnished neat and clean with an attached washroom and geyser, western commode and 24-hour running water. The property is surrounded by cardamom fields, and an orange garden and they have their own farm where they grow their vegetables.
Humro Home Lamagaon Homestay is located at the upper ridges of the Sittong hills. Previously it needed a small uphill climb to reach the homestay, but presently a new road has been constructed and the guest may reach the homestay easily on a vehicle. The property has a beautiful place of worship (known as Chesum) where you can meditate and forget the hustle and bustle of city life. 'Chesum' is a Buddhist word which refers to the typical place of worship for a Buddhist family.
The homestay has its own cow shed and orange orchards and a farming area where you can engage yourself in one-day farming activity. You are sure to forget your normal existence and be emersed in the quintessential village life.
Rooms are basic but properly furnished. Clean and hygienic food and accommodation can be expected. Do not expect any kind of luxury at the accommodation.
It is a property with just 2 rooms; 1 is a 2 bedded room that can accommodate 3 guests and the other room can accommodate only 2 guests. Both rooms have attached washrooms with modern amenities such as a geyser, western commode etc. Both rooms are on the ground floor and you do not need to climb stairs to reach the rooms. Opposite the rooms are the host accommodation and kitchen.
We serve home-cooked good food with organic vegetables mostly from our farm, we serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal options. Non-vegetarian meal mostly includes chicken and egg and fish is not available on a regular basis.
This is a rural homestay so do not expect food as you would expect at a hotel. The food given here is hygienic and tasty and is similar to home-cooked food. The accommodation and meal charge and taken together from the guests as there is no alternative place to have a meal in and around the village. The package includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening tea and snacks. Normally egg is served during lunchtime and chicken is served during dinner.
Location / Accessibility
The Lamagaon area is famous for its orange cultivation, during the winter months orange gardens here produce some of the best oranges. You can spend your day strolling around the village, the whole area is covered with orange orchards and cardamom fields. If you visit between December and February you can enjoy the orange harvesting season and you can join the local people to harvest the oranges with your hand. The village is dependent on agriculture and dairy products and people practice mostly organic farming here. You can join them in the field and witness mountain life.
Lamagaon is located centrally with DARJEELING town being just a 39 km drive, if you like to visit a tea garden there's a tea estate known as Mahaldhiram just 1hr drive which is one of the smallest tea gardens and if you would like to spend your day by the riverside with a packed lunch like a small picnic party you can drive downhill to Jogighat just 30min drive.
You can drive uphill to Bagora airbase and Chimney once used to be a British army camp. If you would like to enjoy the sunset you can drive to AHAAL DARA viewpoint one of the best place to enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains and plains from where you can see the entire eastern Himalayas and can locate the entire plain and Dooars till the Bangladesh borders.

Mrs Mingma Lama is from Chatakpur village which is also a popular tourist destination. She is married in this village and used her experience of Chatakpur to turn her home into a successful homestay. She is experienced in dealing with guests and always carries a smile in her face. She is assisted by her husband in managing the homestay.
