Location / Accessibility
The best part of staying here is that you can easily access Takdah, Tinchuley and Chota Mangwa. Three upcoming and popular tourist places within a 1 to 5 km distance. Takdah is the nearest. The main market is just about a kilometre from our Homestay here. In Takdah you can visit the old heritage British bungalows, or visit the Takdah Orchid centre. Takdah club once used to be the hub of activity of the British cinchona planters. This place is also worth a visit.
Just below Takdah is the Rongli Rongliot Tea Garden, one of the most popular and picturesque tea gardens in the area. Travel to the other side and just a couple of km from the Homestay is the Tinchuley viewpoint. Further, one km ahead is the Gumbadara viewpoint, another excellent viewpoint with a grand view of majestic Himalayan peaks, tea garden and Kalimpong town from one place. A couple of km downhill will take you to Chota Mangwa and its attractions. The area is not full of typical touristic sightseeing options. All the places around offer excellent weather and mountain view to keep one mesmerized for a few days.
For most of the year, Takdah provides pleasant and comfortable weather. The average altitude of the area is a little over 4000 feet. This makes the place neither very cold nor very warm.
