Our homestay is especially for birdwatchers. We have a friendly and family atmosphere. our homestay is away from town and in a peaceful environment. The homestay offers a buffet or à la carte breakfast. Guests can relax in the garden at the property.
Our Chungda homestay is just 3 years old and is a small brick-and-mortar house. It is a single storied house and has 2 rooms which can accommodate a maximum of 6 people. There is a lawn in front of the property from where you get a view of the valley and the mountain cliffs beyond. Nature surrounds you and you can spot a number of small waterfalls even while sitting on the lawn.
Food and Dining
Food provided at the homestay is all home-cooked food with organic vegetables, and we provide veg and non-veg.
Location / Accessibility
The name `Yuksom` means the meeting place of three Lamas. Situated at an altitude of 1780 mt, the place is famous as the starting place for mountaineering expeditions and treks to higher Kanchenjunga ranges. The famous Dubdi monastery is an hour's trek from Yuksom. For trekkers going towards the Kanchenjunga base camp or the Dzongri - Goechala region, this is the place where it all starts.
Yuksom is a trekker's den. The famous Dzongri and Goechala treks start from here and take about 6 days [Dzongri] and 11 days [Goechala] to complete.
Besides trekking, this is also a birder's paradise, as the place is located within the Kanchanjungha National Park area.
The famous Dubdi monastery is an hour's trek from Yuksom. For trekkers going towards the Kanchenjunga base camp or the Dzongri - Goechala region, this is the place where it all starts. Khecheopelri holy Lake is an hour's drive away and Kanchanjungha Falls is in the same direction, about 12 Km from Yuksom.
Within the Yuksom village itself, you can visit Kathok Lake and Norbughang Throne, which are the main attraction points here. There is also a small Kathok monastery nearby.

The average temperature in summer is around 10 degrees. Winters can see the mercury fall to below sub-zero levels, with maximum temperatures of about 15 degrees. The monsoon months of June to September, witness fairly heavy rainfall, which at times makes the roads slippery and it is not suggested to travel here at this time. From October onwards again, the weather becomes very pleasant and conducive to visit.

Situated 150 km from NJP railway station / Bagdogra airport, follow the Sevoke road up to Geyzing in West Sikkim. From there, Yuksom is about 42 km away via Pelling and Darap.
Alternatively, you may also go to Yuksom via a slightly different route which starts at Legship. The present condition of the road is the primary factor behind deciding which route is to be followed.
