Things to Do Nearby
When the British were travelling in the region during the early 19th century, they came across Rikisum and immediately recognised its value. The hilltop not only provides excellent mountain views but also is a strategic location from which a large part of Sikkim can be observed. This is probably the reason that even the Bhutanese had shown interest in the place earlier. A British bungalow was constructed here in the 19th century, which survived till the 1980s when local agitators set the bungalow on fire. Today, remnants of the Bungalow are hardly visible except the bases of a few pillars. The area is heavily forested. But a short trek from your homestay can lead to the Rikisum Viewpoint. It remains a great spot for sunrise and sunset photography.
Visit Lolegaon & Lava
Both Lolegaon and Lava are nearby tourist attractions known for their beautiful monasteries, canopy walks, and scenic landscapes. A day trip from Rikisum can cover both destinations.
Explore the Changey Waterfall
Just about an hour's drive from Rikisum, Changy Waterfall is a hidden gem surrounded by dense forests. You have to travel to Lava and then about 14 kilometers through dense forests of Neora Valley National Park to reach here.
