At Chatakpur you do not have an alternative arrangement for Food such as a restaurant. Hence, Packages are all-inclusive and include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and evening tea, and snacks. There is no other meal plan on offer.

Breakfast mostly consists of Roti, Vegetables, and Tea. Lunch is normally Rice, Dal, Vegetables, and Egg, and Dinner is with Roti or Rice with Chicken, vegetables, and Dal. A small variation of the food is available but no food menu or food by order is possible here. The nearest shop for grocery is Sonada about an hour's walk away, so the food options are limited here

Chatakpur is not a place where you visit for a lot of activity. However, you can easily engage yourself for a day or two in the village.

You can visit the Watchtower located on top of the hill with a 360-degree view of the surrounding hills. There is a small lake in the forest which can be a good place for a forest trail, though we recommend taking a local along to avoid getting lost in the heavily forested area. You can also go for a day trek to Tiger hill (About 3 hours one way) or towards Mongpoo (About 2 hours one way). Treks must be undertaken under the strict guidance of local people and with permission from forest officials. The forest has a high population of leopards and bears among other animals, so venturing into the forest on your own is not recommended.

Chatakpur is one of the best places to view the Kanchenjunga range. The mountain is at its full glory facing the village, from our Homestay you can watch Kanchenjunga even from the room or just outside from the balcony. An area is also a great place for bird lovers as it is home to a variety of birds. The village can be a great place to simply walk around and interact with the locals. Although the village receives more than a couple of thousand visitors every year, the villagers are not yet influenced too much by the tourists and are still practicing their natural lifestyle. The villagers, in general, are helpful and friendly toward the tourists.

The altitude of Chatakpur is about 7800 feet (2380 meters). Compare this with Darjeeling (6700 feet – 2042 meters) and Tiger Hill (8500 feet or 2590 meters) and you can understand the place is quite high in altitude. Hence Chatakpur can be quite cold. During winter months, snowfall is common. Early morning frozen dew can be quite slippery unless you are careful. Throughout the year you need to carry heavy woolen. The area on top of a hill is also quite windy. So you also need to carry a windproof. It rains heavily during the monsoon months of July to September, but during the other months also occasional showers can be expected anytime, weather changes here by the hour. Humro Home Chetan Homestay is located in the Upper Chatakpur area near Darjeeling. It is inside the Chatakpur forest. The village itself is on a ridge and the Chetan Homestay is among the highest homes in the village.

Being located on height has its advantages, the view of the mountain is best from Chetan Homestay and also the viewpoint on top of the hill is just a couple of minutes walk away. However, if your vehicle drops you at the bottom of the village, reaching here will entail walking up equivalent to a four-story building.
