At a distance of 1 km from Gulma station and 3.5 km from Sukna rail station. The Humro Home Gulma is a homestay located on the outskirts of Siliguri town. It is within 30 minutes drive from the heart of Siliguri town, and yet, it is surrounded by greenery and forest on all sides.

The village was used as the location for popular Hindi movies such as "Barfi" and "Jagga Jasoos".

Humro Home Gulma is a two-storied building. The Homestay is located in a forest village known as Khairani – Punding forest village. The area is famous as an elephant corridor. The Kurseong hills form the background of the Homestay whereas the Mohurgong Gulma Tea estate is opposite the Homestay. The Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary is within 100 meters of our Homestay.

All the rooms have attached toilets. The toilets have running hot and cold water and WC. The ground floor room also has a bathtub. There is no power backup or air conditioning at the homestay. Food is available at the ground floor dining hall. Homely food is available on advance notice.

Location / Accessibility

Gulma Tea Garden - Just opposite to our Homestay is the famous Mohurgong & Gulma Tea Garden. The road opposite the Homestay goes to the Tea Factory and the labor line is about 2 km away. The road is through the tea garden and can be a place for a morning or evening walk even if you do not intend to walk the entire distance.

Sukna - 3 kms west of the Homestay is Sukna village. On one side of the road is Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary and on the other side is Gulma Tea Garden. Walking on this road is not recommended as elephants often come out on the road here. At Sukna you can visit the Forest museum, or go to the beautiful Sukna rail station of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Mahananda River - 1.5 km towards the east is the Mahananda river bed and Rail Bridge over the Mahananda river. This is a beautiful place and is popular among locals as well as visitors as a picnic spot. Do not cross the bridge as that will lead you to the core area of Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary where entry is restricted.

We have a lot of open space within the Homestay and around. Great mountain, forest, and tea garden view is available from the Homestay itself which has 4 balconies for the guests to sit and enjoy the surrounding views.

The ground in front is ideal for an idyllic evening. There is a large ground behind where one can spend time playing with the locals. There is a garden outside the Homestay which can be used for sitting around or playing for the children.

Within a short drive of 30 to 45 minutes, you can reach major tourist entry points such as Bagdogra airport and NJP rail station. Other tourist destinations are also reachable easily from here. About Your Host
Krishna Thapa is your host at Humro Home Gulma. He was born and brought up in the village. Krishna made his mark through his hard work and dedication. Although he worked as a bartender for most of his life, he remains a teetotaller and a vegetarian. Though that does not constrain.

There are multiple roads that will lead you to Humro Home Gulma.

The most popular road to reach this Homestay from Siliguri town is Champasari Debidanga. Drive through this road northbound till the road ends at the Gulma railway station. Just before you reach Gulma station, a road goes towards the left, take this road and drive for a km to reach our Homestay. A little less popular but very picturesque road reaches our Homestay through Sukna. Once you cross the Sukna heritage rail station of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, take the first right turn. Cross a small pool and enter the forested area. Soon you will be on a 3.5 km drive with the forest on your left and the tea garden on your right.
